There is so much going on all the time and we are so wrapped up in our own worlds its great to have an alternative. That is how I look at what I do. I asked a professional artist once if she ever got fed up doing what she was doing. She said, “Generally no, but when the commissions start coming in there are times I wouldn’t mind being a truck driver”. I have never asked a truck driver if he gets fed up but I bet he does.
Breaking the monotony I suppose of doing stuff we don’t want to do all the time.
That is one of the reasons for The Wall, but mostly for fun and diversity and doing something completely different. Losing yourself in your work; that is something I only do when I paint or draw……
The world is busy enough already. I don’t need any other excuse.
